Finance Lead

Position Summary:
Tembo Nickel is seeking to recruit the Finance Lead to join the Kabanga Nickel Project Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the project from a financial point of view, including budgeting, cost allocation, reporting, and governance. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Duty Station: Corporate Office – Dar es Salaam
Key Focusing Areas Include:
Corporate financial reporting and creation of statutory accounts.
Day-to-day ownership of accounting functions, including month-end close.
Cost and management reporting to site and Group based in London.
Internal control and SOX compliance management.
Management of local and Group audit timelines.
Duties and Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and other financial reports, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting for local companies and reporting to the Group.
- Ensure financial governance, internal controls, and SOX compliance by Group standards are always maintained.
- Ensure that all internal and external reporting deadlines are met at all times.
- Responsible for producing timely monthly cost centre management accounts and qualitative commentary against the approved budget.
- Assist the CFO in preparing budgets, forecasts, and presentations to local and Group management.
- Ensure all day-to-day, month-end financial accounting tasks are timely (e.g., reconciliations, legal filings, and relevant documentation).
- Assist the CFO in driving standardization of processes between Group and project sites.
- Identification and reporting of accounting issues and supporting the development of documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in line with the group standards.
- Facilitate the coordination of the CFO and integrated planning meetings with Heads of Department.
- Review operating capital expenditure and forecasts to ensure alignment with business strategy and to optimize return on investment.
- Assist the CFO in initiating, developing, implementing, streamlining, and maintaining the company’s necessary financial strategies, policies, and procedures to manage finances effectively.
- Ensure adherence to legislative and corporate governance compliance requirements.
- Communicate findings of audits, best practices, and improvement recommendations to senior management.
- Lead, mentor and manage the finance team through hands-on management and applying industry best practices.
Qualifications and Competencies: The applicant should have:
- A degree from a recognized higher learning institution in Accounting and Finance, Economics, or another relevant field.
- Professional Accounting qualification, preferably CPA and ACCA.
- At least eight (8) years of experience with a global audit firm.
- Worked in a listed company.
- SOX experience ideal.
- Proficiency in audit processes, financial reporting, and IFRS reporting standards.
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with financial software.
- Experience with the mining industry.
