About Mpwapwa campus

Mpwapwa campus as the oldest Institute was established by Germans in 1930 as part of the then Veterinary Research Station founded in 1905. In 1961, the institute was transferred to Tengeru (Arusha), where training in Animal Husbandry courses was conducted to the end of 1967 and it was reintroduced in Mpwapwa.

The campus offers; the basic certificate in Animal Health and Production (NTA Level 4), The Technician Certificate in Animal Health and Production (NTA Level 5) and The Ordinary Diploma in Animal Health and Production (NTA Level 6) and the demand driven short courses.

Entry Requirements

I. CERTIFICATE COURSES LEADING TO DIPLOMA (NTA 4 – 6)

A candidate must have passed CSEE with at least four passes, among those; two passes must be of science subjects i.e. Biology, Agriculture, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics/ Engineering Sciences and Geography with a minimum qualification of at least grade D and have passed two other subjects except Religious and Cookery subjects with a minimum qualification of at least grade D

OR

Form six candidates who have passed ACSEE but do not have science subjects are allowed to use form four (IV) results. They will also start at NTA Level 4 – 6.

OR

A candidate must have passed CSEE and attended Vocational Training in Animal Health and Production – NVA Level 3 or Trade Test I

II. DIPLOMA COURSES (NTA 5 – 6) – Only for Tengeru Campus

  • A candidate must have passed certificate course in Animal Health and Production (AHPC), Basic Certificate in General Agriculture and Certificate in Agriculture and Livestock Production (CALP)

III. DIPLOMA COURSES (NTA 6)

ANIMAL HEALTH & PRODUCTION: A candidate must have passed certificate course in Animal Health and Production (CAHP NTA Level 5).

VETERINARY LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY: A candidate must have passed Certificate course in Veterinary Laboratory Technology NTA Level 5.

RANGE MANAGEMENT & TSETSE CONTROL: A candidate must have passed certificate course in Animal Health and Production (CAHP NTA Level 5), or AHPC and CALP during term system.
